Others apply. We engineer.
Natural stone took thousands of years to form underground โ no sun, no water, no foot traffic. The moment it's placed in a South Florida environment, it enters a world it was never designed for. We act as the mediator. Not to fight nature. To work with it.
Luxury Residential ยท Limited Availability ยท Not All Properties Qualify
We do not use typical off-the-shelf products. Our commercial-grade, water-based modified acrylic urethane โ the Hybrid Cross-Link Cured System โ is formulated and calibrated for each surface individually. Material type, porosity, environmental exposure, and use conditions all determine how it is engineered and applied.
The most common surface in Palm Beach luxury homes. Non-slip engineering for travertine pool decks, patios, and walkways. Each pore structure is evaluated individually before treatment.
Slip prevention for limestone pool surrounds, driveways, and entry paths. Engineered to perform in South Florida humidity and salt-air environments.
All natural stone varieties โ slate, granite, sandstone, coral stone โ engineered for traction without coatings. Each stone type receives a custom treatment profile.
Specialized non-slip engineering for exterior marble terraces. High-polish surfaces require diamond grinding to profile the stone for adhesion, which alters the original finish. Limited-scope application for safety-critical exterior areas only.
Non-slip surface engineering for stamped, polished, and exposed aggregate concrete. Pool decks and driveways. Treatment is calibrated to the specific aggregate and finish.

Most homeowners contact us after a near-miss โ a child slipping at the pool edge, an elderly parent losing footing on wet stone, or a guest incident that raised serious liability concerns. Others call because they've watched expensive travertine or limestone deteriorate and want to stop it before replacement becomes the only option.
In nearly three decades of applications, our failure rate on pool decks is less than half a percent. We do not make excuses. We do not disappear after the job. We stand by our work because we understand the science behind it.
Reduces slip risk on wet surfaces around pools, spas, and outdoor living areas. Engineered traction, not a surface coating applied over the problem.
Prevents staining, surface deterioration, and moisture intrusion. Designed to extend the life of expensive natural stone without altering its character.
Maintains the natural look of the material while improving surface clarity. Our system does not paint or coat โ it works within the stone.

Due to the nature of our assessment process, we schedule a limited number of evaluations each month. Not all properties qualify for service.
We evaluate the material in person before recommending anything. Porosity, condition, environmental exposure, and use patterns are all measured. No phone quotes. No assumptions.
Every stone type behaves differently. Travertine, limestone, and marble each have distinct pore structures that require different treatment approaches. We identify exactly what the surface needs.
Every surface gets a treatment engineered specifically for it. Our water-based modified acrylic urethane โ the Hybrid Cross-Link Cured System โ is formulated for each substrate. Stone type, porosity, surface condition, and environment all determine the chemistry. On highly porous substrates like travertine or limestone, the system is viscosity-adjusted to penetrate deep into the pore structure, bonding from within rather than sitting on top. Where durability is the priority, a second engineered phase is applied โ a higher-solids cross-linking coat with broadcast aggregate that cures into the surface itself. The result is a wear-resistant, traction-engineered finish that is part of the stone โ not a coating over it.
We walk the surface with you, answer every question, and leave you with care guidance specific to your stone. No documentation package, no testing theater โ just honest conversation about what was done and how to maintain it.

Mark Gorman's expertise in surface adhesion didn't start on a pool deck โ it started on the water. Mark's early career was shaped by a surfing background and an extensive apprenticeship building mega-yachts, where he mastered resins, bonding agents, and marine-grade durability. He applied this knowledge to engineering high-performance traction for surfboards and paddleboards โ where failure is not an option.
Operating in South Florida since the early 2000s, Mark recognized a critical gap in the luxury market: contractors were ruining high-end natural stone with cheap, slippery coatings, creating massive liability for homeowners and resorts. Signature Traction was built to solve this exact problem.
Today, Mark and his crew are the quiet force behind some of the most challenging surface engineering projects in the country โ frequently subcontracted by national-brand surface companies to handle their most technical, high-stakes non-slip jobs.
A luxury resort had just completed a multi-million dollar pool renovation with premium travertine โ visually stunning, dangerously slick. Guests were falling, lawsuits were mounting, rubber mats covered the deck. It was more cost-effective to fly Mark out internationally than to risk another day of liability. He engineered a custom traction profile and treated the entire pool deck in two days. As he packed up, guests approached him with a single message: "Thank you for saving our vacation."
Most coatings fail because they ignore the physics. Natural stone breathes, expands, and wicks moisture from below. When a thick topical coating is applied in direct Florida sun โ the bond releases. A predictable physics failure. Think of it this way: a standard wax job costs $100 and needs to be redone regularly. Our system is the ceramic coating โ it bonds deeper, lasts longer, and performs at a level a wax job cannot match. But like any ceramic coating, longevity depends on how the surface is maintained.
| Attribute | Standard Coatings | Signature Traction |
|---|---|---|
| Application | โTopical โ sits on the surface | โEngineered within the stone |
| Longevity | โBreaks down in 1โ2 years | โ1โ7+ years depending on substrate, finish, and maintenance |
| Appearance | โAlters surface โ adds gloss or haze | โAs natural as possible โ slight enhancement on select surfaces only |
| Moisture | โTraps moisture beneath the film | โAllows vapors to escape โ won't trap or debond |
| Warranty | โNo warranty offered | โConditional warranty โ based on substrate, finish, and maintenance protocol |

Our system may slightly deepen color on porous materials โ similar to how natural stone looks when lightly damp. Dense materials like polished marble typically show no visible change.
Think of a standard wax job on your car. It costs $100, looks great, and needs to be redone regularly to maintain that finish. Our system is the ceramic coating โ engineered to bond deeper, last significantly longer, and perform at a level a wax job cannot match.
But like any ceramic coating, there are conditions. A ceramic coating manufacturer will tell you: rinse with water only โ use soap, and the warranty is void. We operate the same way. We engineer the treatment to your specific substrate. We stand by the result. But longevity depends on how the surface is maintained, what it is exposed to, and how it is used.
We have seen our work last more than five years on well-maintained surfaces. We have seen it perform for a year on surfaces exposed to heavy chemical cleaning or extreme conditions. That range is honest โ and it is the same range you would get from any ceramic coating on a car that lives outdoors in South Florida versus one kept in a garage. We do not guess. We do not disappear after the job. We tell you exactly what to expect โ and we stand by it.
Every engagement begins with an in-person evaluation. We do not quote over the phone. We need to see the material, measure its porosity, and understand the environment before we can recommend anything.
